RE: FESTIVAL OF WORLD CULTURES
I hope so! I definitely plan on heading to Dun Laoghaire for a few hours. The line up looks really interesting and there seem to be quite a few markets. Hope to see you there Leesa!

RE: FESTIVAL OF WORLD CULTURES
It really is an amazing festival for children & adults alike. The only South African stall I found last year was the Samoosa & indian food stall - still not as hot as the Durban curries though! Anyway hope to see some South African arts / crafts / food or even entertainment.

RE: FESTIVAL OF WORLD CULTURES
attempted to register but close-off for applications was 11 June. so please guys - those interested in part-taking; can we diarise this for next year and have a well organised and supported SA corner.
anybody interested in joining this event in '09? i am taking the liberty of assuming organising this with leesa's support. email me should you be genuinely interested in doing it or just post your opinion on this. |

RE: FESTIVAL OF WORLD CULTURES
Was walking around it today, and the only SA store was selling kids clothes.
I would be on for putting up a food stall selling Broerwors rolls, koeksisters, chutney, biltong etc. etc. Maybe we should all get together on this, as the food stalls were very busy today. The head organiser was on 98FM the other day, and she was saying that they are already planning next years event, so I reckon we come up with a plan before Xmas. It could even be possible to put forward 2 stalls, 1 with food, and Leesa if you're interested, they had a World Market section, and the shops were selling curios, art etc. so another stal could do that kind of stuff ![]() Verstaan Jy? |

RE: FESTIVAL OF WORLD CULTURES
Felix - this is brilliant. send me an email with your contact details and we can certainly get together on this. i am game for koeksisters and milktart and anything else typically SA which is homemade.

RE: FESTIVAL OF WORLD CULTURES
Hi Everyone,
I am an Irish Guy with a South African partner and came across this thread while Clare was checking out some stuff on the site. I work for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co Council, the organisers of The Festival of World Cultures. I am one of the people responsible for delivering the events in The People's Park, one of the three main outdoor stages. I think it would be a brilliant idea for a group to get together and organise something for People's Park. The Malaysian Irish group organise their annual Irish day out for the Saturday of the festival and we organise a picnic area specially for them. It would be great to see the South Africans out in force, just to meet up or perhaps sell some real South African goods, There is a world food market which is extremely busy. If anyone would like more information and help in organising something mail me liam.cortzola@gmail.com Liam |
